IMAS BRINGING BACK THE 70'S
McAllen - The Board of Directors of the International Museum of Art & Science has set the museum's most important annual fundraiser, Collage 2008, for Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. The theme of Collage 2008 is, "Mirror Ball: The Seventies," which will be a flashback to the 1970's.
This year's auction will include hunting trips, jewelry, parties, and high quality gifts. In addition, an international cuisine, open bar, and a Disco Dance Party will be included. Returning by popular demand will be the "$10,000 Happening," a one in three-hundred chance to win a $10,000 shopping spree. Happening tickets cost $100 and are limited. Collage tickets are now at a special reduced rate, only $50 for museum members and $60 for non-members.
IMAS will be closed to the public Tuesday, October 7, through Tuesday, October 14, 2008 and will resume regular hours of operation Wednesday, October 15, 2008. IMAS is able to expand its capabilities in serving the community through this annual fundraiser, and invites the public to join the museum for a night to remember. The mission of the International Museum of Art & Science is to promote a deeper appreciation of the arts and sciences through exhibitions, cultural events, and educational programs; and to expand, preserve, and display its permanent art and science collections. The museum is located at the intersection of Bicentennial Way and Nolana Avenue. Monday: closed; Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. General admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and $4 for children ages 4 to 12. Children under age 3 are free, and unlimited general admission is provided on a complimentary basis to IMAS Members. On Sundays, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. IMAS offers free general admission, thanks to the generosity of Hidalgo County and the City of McAllen.
